Title: Deric Wan Takes You To His Silver Journey Part II
TV Broadcast Time: March 23, 2004 at 8:00pm

To develop a career in the entertainment circle, means to go throught many difficult years and Deric Wan is no exception. When he first entered the business, he endured many hard times. "At the time, I was not even willing to spend 20 dollars on lunch. If I did, I would be walking home. Every morning I would buy half a dozen pineapple buns at the cafeteria. I would eat two for breakfast with water and two for lunch with water. This was how I filled my stomach!" Even though it was tough, it was evident that the results "hardship meets success" was worth praising. During that term, Deric together with Gallon Lo and Roger Kwok, worked hard together and developed a very deep friendship. "Looking at their success now, I'm very happy for them!"

From an unknown lad to a top actor, a good script and character was certainly the key factor for Deric's smooth rise to fame. "Actually, there were many roles that I liked, such as: [I Am Good By Nature]'s Chai Hou Yin and [A Good Match From Heaven]'s parrot training Ding Cheung On. But I was most influenced by [Looking Back In Anger]'s Ding Yau Hong, because it was "him" and enabled me to be known to Chinese viewers around the world which gave me many performance opportunities afterwards.

With his career at the height of power, during the filming of one of his series, Deric created some spark with Sonija Kwok. Work and love together was quite pleasant. His happiness was endless. "She is the one I have been waiting for, for so long. Now I have finally met her. I'm very very happy!" Regarding the future, he was a little uncertain, "I hope to be able to go to a place with her where we can have our freedom. A place where we can start a family, without having to dress up for anyone or change lives for anyone and live together happily ever after!"

Career and love are the two most precious things in Deric's life. He is thankful that God has granted him all this goodness. Looking back at his life, he dare say, "In this lifetime, I have no regrets!"

In this issue of Starlight Film Section, Deric will continue to tell us of his past experiences and journey allowing you to enter into his heart.

Subject: Deric Wan Opens Hair Salon Business In Shanghai

Four years ago, all for the "love of beauty", Deric Wan, who was unfamiliar with business, invested several thousands of dollars with a friend and opened a hair salon in Taiwan called "Ten Miles of Ocean". Recently he has opened another hair salon in Shanghai. He hopes to use his own well known name to enter the inland market. He believes that one day, he will have a hair salon located in several inland cities.

Deric Wan feels that he is fortunate to know friends who are business knowledgeable, leaving him with no pressure. He doesn't have to worry about any of the store's big and small problems. All he is responsible for is his own specialty which is public relations, packaging and publicizing.

He says, "I've always paid attention to my hair styling, that is why I love to visit the hair salon. I understand a customer's feeling. The feeling of being a celebrity and not wanting to be seen having a hair cut in public. That is why the hair salon has several individual VIP rooms with internet computers stations for customers to pass the time."

Apart from packaging, Deric has setup a program for VIP members to have special towels, cups and dishes, all with the customers' names engraved on them. They will not have to share with other customers, giving them a first class feeling. Many customers support this idea.

Even though he has some achievement with business, Deric has never thought of giving up acting. Acting is his greatest interest.
