Taiwan and mainland (including Hong Kong) production, 30-episode action series "Great Shanghai" will be broadcasting during prime time, on CCTV beginning February 26, 2005. A press conference was held in Beijing this afternoon (the 16th), to announce the release of the series. The main casts Deric Wan, Paul Chun, Gao Shu Guang and Vivian Chan were present to promote the production of "Great Shanghai".
It is reported, that this series is a joint production between CCTV Cultural Arts Film and Television Department and Shanghai Sea Culture Film and Television Investment Management Corporation. Directed by Hong Kong's well known director, Yuan Ying Ming, the series consists of Taiwan and mainland strong actors and actresses as follows: Gao Shu Guang, Vivian Chan, Paul Chun, Deric Wan and David Chiang.
"Great Shanghai" takes place during Shanghai's development stages between the years 1996 to 2003. The series talks about how Taiwan's financial group Chairman Xiao Yangshan (performed by Hong Kong actor, Paul Chun) and adopted daughter, Xiao Ching Yun (performed by Taiwan actress, Vivian Chan) seeks opportunity together with the many domestic and foreign merchants in the rapid development of Shanghai. It is a story of how the relationship between an attractive and intelligent, Xiao Ching Yun and a Shanghai entrepreneur, Xu Ning (performed by Gau Shu Guang) turns from business contradiction to cooperation and love.
An introduction was made from CCTV's main cast from the series, on how it was created for the purpose of reflecting the magnificient achievements that have resulted from China's reform and open policy, especially the strength that has been molding Shanghai day by day to become the international metropolis. The whole scenery unravels several hundreds of thousands of Taiwan people converging with real life course of events. CCTV made a special broadcast during prime time to promote this series, inviting numerous foreign performers and backstage employees to participate in the photography. This series is built up of mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan's top performers, forming a exceedingly strong team. Aftering watching the series, it is certain to create a sensational effect among the Chinese people living in mainland (including Hong Kong) and Taiwan.
